File under the category “so many wasted hours.” Perform math on timecodes. Extremely useful for those of us creating event-driven media. This version is free. There's a shareware version available (US$7) also with more time bases.

Pumpkin Carving Alternatives
This month's Sunset Magazine has some alternative ideas for carving pumpkins this fall. They include flower .PDF's you can print out and use as templates.
WMV Components for OS X: Play/Export WMV in Quicktime Player
Leave it to Microsoft to make a craptastic version of Windows Media Player for OS X. Not only does it feel like abandon-ware, but it crashes and seizes a lot. Finally, a Mac developer has created Quicktime component plugins to enable playback and export of .WMV files. It'll cost ya though.

Clipping from an old issue of Time Out NY. Best use of a Dionne Warwick 12″ sleeve EVAR!
Random Axis Camera Zen: The AXIS 206M
My next cam purchase will undoubtedly be an AXIS 206M megapixel camera. It's the same form factor as the 205 and 206 but delivers a 1280 x 720 image that's also progressive. You don't get the same frame rate as the small-image cams, but the size more than makes up for it.
I have no idea where this camera is located– somewhere in the U.S. It even looks good dark.
Sorry Canada and Hawaii, No All White Meat Chicken For You
When you record shows with the Studio TVR on a regular schedule, you get a lot of comercials. Here's a still frame from a Taco Bell commercial with a tiny bit of text at the bottom that caught my attention.
All white-meat chicken not available in Hawaii and Canada
Interesting. Anyone care to tell my why??
Less Random Axis Camera Zen
Less random for me, perhaps more random for you. This camera is located atop Harrison's Harbor Watch restuarant in Ocean City, MD. Nice PTZ camera with some good presets. Pan to the left to see the Zipper and the Tidal Wave coaster. Clicking on the controls annoyingly launches a new window each time in Firefox (I'm SURE this is an IE thing) but it does work.
Random Axis Camera Zen
Unidentified, but should be from Santa Clara University, according to the whois record. Is this outside of a library or maybe a student union? Great frame rate and superb picture quality.
Apple: Where are my movies supposed to go?
Seems Apple has a hard time deciding if your movies should go in your Movies folder in your home directory, stored in iPhoto (since they were retrieved from your digicam), or in iTunes. I guess once everyone is able to use Front Row it won't really matter since it will pull data from all sources and cobble it together in a nice GUI.
