Delaware Electronics Recycling

I'm often asked if there is a place where you can get rid of old electronic goods in the state of Delaware. Good news, there is. Even better news, it's free! Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) has a program that allows residents, schools and non profits to recycle their electronic goods for free at certain recycling sites. See the list for the sites and hours of operation.

Twins?

The dove family is back for the third year, nesting amidst the wisteria vines on top of the pergola. This year there are two eggs; in the past, the eggs have accidentally fallen out and cracked on the deck or haven't hatched at all. Let's hope they have better luck this year.

Recycle Your Polystyrene

In Delaware, there is a very good volunteer recycling program that got just a little better. You can now recycle using “single stream (except if it's batteries, corrugated cardboard, plastic bags). They've never accepted polystyrene. I've always felt guilty about stuffing the light as a feather but bulky stuff in the garbage.

Luckily, there's a company that will accept polystyrene (solid or peanuts) and recycle them into, well, more packing material. At least it gets a second chance at usefulness.
